Crew LeAD
Crew Lead — Construction Leaman and Son LLC | Western Maryland Full-time
Position Summary: The Crew Lead is responsible for directing and coordinating the daily activities of a construction crew on residential and light-commercial projects. This role combines hands-on work with supervisory responsibilities: setting pace, assigning tasks, ensuring adherence to plans and codes, maintaining quality, and communicating with project managers and clients. The Crew Lead fosters a safe, productive, and professional jobsite environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise a crew of tradespeople and laborers on site for remodeling, roofing, flooring, and custom projects.
Read and interpret plans, specifications, and work orders; translate them into daily tasks for the crew.
Assign work, set priorities and production goals, and monitor progress to meet schedules.
Perform and oversee hands-on tasks as needed (carpentry, roofing, flooring prep/installation, demolition, finish work).
Maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure work complies with company quality standards, building codes, and manufacturer instructions.
Enforce and model safe work practices; conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings; report hazards and incidents.
Maintain accurate jobsite records: labor hours, materials used, equipment status, and daily progress reports.
Coordinate deliveries, subcontractors, and permitting/licensing as directed by project management.
Communicate effectively with project managers, estimators, clients, and suppliers regarding progress, issues, and change requests.
Train and mentor crew members; evaluate performance and provide constructive feedback.
Ensure jobsite cleanliness and proper protection of client property.
Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on construction experience; demonstrated experience in remodeling, roofing, or flooring preferred.
Prior supervisory or lead experience on construction sites.
Solid knowledge of construction methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and basic technical drawings.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make on-site decisions under time constraints.
Familiarity with local building codes, safety regulations, and OSHA principles.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Physical ability to perform manual labor, work at heights, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
Good communication skills, punctuality, and a professional demeanor.
Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented.
Preferred
Certifications in OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, first aid/CPR, or trade-specific certifications.
Familiarity with roofing systems, floor installations (hardwood, laminate, tile), and finish carpentry.

Laborer
Position: Construction Laborer (Full-time) Location: Western Maryland (various job sites)
Position Summary: We are seeking dependable, hardworking Construction Laborers to support on-site crews across remodeling, roofing, flooring, and general construction projects. Laborers perform physical tasks, maintain clean and safe job sites, handle materials and equipment, and assist skilled tradespeople as needed. This role is hands-on and requires attention to safety, punctuality, and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
Perform general construction tasks: carrying materials, loading/unloading trucks, site clean-up, demolition, digging, and debris removal.
Assist carpenters, roofers, and flooring installers with material handling, layout, and basic prep work.
Operate hand tools and basic power tools (saws, drills, grinders) safely and according to instructions.
Mix, pour, and finish concrete or other materials as required.
Erect and dismantle scaffolding, ladders, and temporary supports in accordance with safety guidelines.
Measure, cut, and layout basic materials under supervision.
Dispose of waste and maintain site housekeeping to ensure a safe work environment.
Load and secure materials on trucks for transport between sites.
Assist with deliveries and inventory of materials and supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned to support project completion on schedule and within quality standards.
Qualifications
Prior construction site experience preferred but not required; willing to train the right candidate.
Ability to perform physically demanding work: lift 50+ lbs repeatedly, stand, kneel, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Basic familiarity with hand and power tools.
Comfortable working at heights (roof work) and with ladders/scaffolding after training.
Valid driver’s license preferred; reliable transportation to job sites required.
Strong work ethic, punctuality, and ability to follow directions.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
